Topics: We will study Cartesian coordinates, straight lines and their equations and slopes, curves, derivatives (including graphing, related rates, and maxima/minima problems), anti-derivatives, and The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.  (This is essentially the material from section 1.1 through section 6.1 inclusive.)  We will spend time throughout the course experimenting with, and using, a computer algebra and graphing package to help solve calculus problems.

Grade: There will be three in-class exams and a final.  The in-class exams will each count 20% of the final grade and the final exam will comprise 30% of the final grade.  There will also be graded homework problems worth 10% of the grade.  There will be a Derive (symbolic computer algebra) component on each of the exams.
